Railay Beaches
Railay ha 4 spiagge:
Railay West, where lands the boats from Ao Nang. It's the nice beach where most medium and deluxew resorts are. Some good restaurant too.
It's the classical sunset beach.
Pranang Beach, the beach with the cavern. It's beautifull with a wonderful view. No bars or resturants there, only food and drinks sellers.
Tonsai Beach, where the climbers go. There are standard and medium resorts. Many restaurants and bars with night music. It's the house of the famous, weekly, Tonsai Party. The Freedom Bar it's as perfect climbing arena.
Railay East, where the boats from Krabi lands. It's the Railay service beach but also the place where the Railay night life is. Some standard and medium resort, restaurants and bars with night movies.
A different place in Railay?
Try Railay Hill. At approx. 1 km from Railay East,on the way to Tonsai, there are some standard and medium resorts. They are in the shadow of a little plantation in a mountain style location.
We suggest you to use always sun protection and to avoid sun burning during warmer hours (12,00/03,00). Why not a fruit shake in the shadow?

Shopping
In Railay there are shops with different products. There are 8/10 little supermarkets(Railay East and Tonsai) selling foods and drinks, sun lotions and shampoos, sigarettes and rolling papers.
Different shops sell climbing gears, diving equipments, souvenirs, t-shirts and swiming suites, etc.
Some shops and resorts sell and swap second hand books.
In general price are higher than in Krabi.

Night Life

Railay is a quiet place, but you have some choices:
1)Many resturants show movies from 06,00 PM
2)Bars in Railay East and Tonsai have good music and happy hours. Sometime Genko Bar in Railay E. and Freedom Bar in Tonsai have live music. Some bars have a pool table.
3)Parties come each evening in different locations. Starting at sunset, ending at down. Boards with advice are anywhere in Railay

Last suggestions

The only suggestion regards the boat men. They are very important people in a place where you need a boat to go anywhere. The rates, as I wrote, are a sort of official price list generally accepted but at the following conditions:
1)The rates are per people and they are valid for a passage sharing the boat with other people. The boat man will go around on the beach looking for other people to your same destination and he will leave when he will reach the nr of people is looking for!
2)After sunsent and in case you want travel alone or you don't want wait the cost is different, much more high and you will have to bargain, gently!

Railay has no police office, no post office, no medical assistance. King Climbers operates a Climbers Rescue Service.
In case medical assitance is needed it's possible to go Ao Nang or Krabi or to call a doctor to come.

Trekking, jogging, ecotours, rafting,...
Railay West it's a perfect place for jogging. Railay West beach is 600 mts long maden by perfect and compact coral sand, partially in the shadow.

The peninsula has many trials and some hard treks up and down the jungle to reach view points, a lagoon down in a limestone "gorge", different caves and the climbing walls.
The level of some of these treks is for people used to move in nature and well trained.
Part of Railay is in the area of a National Park including Phi Phi Island too. Excursions, one or more days tours in Phi Phi available on demand.

Rafting, ecotours in the jungle, 4x4 tours. The area offers many suggestions. If you are interested to get more information or to book you can do it locally by contacting Robin at King Climbers.
